City Detect has been named one of nine finalists in Sourcewell's Civic Solutions Challenge, and we're headed to Smart Cities Connect in National Harbor, MD, September 22-24 to pitch live.

If you haven't heard of Sourcewell before, here's the quick version: it's a cooperative purchasing program used by more than 50,000 government, education, and nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and Canada. The Civic Solutions Challenge is Sourcewell Ventures' search for digital infrastructure technologies worth building a real pilot around, this year across three focus areas: Operational GovTech, Public Safety Tech, and Public Health and Community Wellbeing Tech. Only nine companies made the cut to pitch in person.

We're incredibly proud of the company we've built and the meaningful impact we see our government partners making on their communities. The other finalists are tackling public safety data fusion, multilingual 911 and benefits access, on-premises generative AI for sensitive government data, smart building controls, mobile emergency power, and accessible public restrooms. It's a great snapshot of where civic tech is headed. Our pitch is all about our PASS AI®: how we turn municipal fleet vehicles already on the road into mobile assessment tools, using computer vision to flag community concerns early so departments can understand the full scope of issues, identify trends that may be emerging, and strategically plan how to not only abate the problem, but how to utilize resources to make lasting change.

The vision and mission that started our organization, remains the same to this day. When communities have the tools to holistically understand their landscape, they can take strategic action that lifts the entire community. These are the same commitments we hold ourselves to in every deployment and the ones we documented for San Francisco's Emerging Technologies vendor pool, the GovAI Coalition's AI Factsheet, and, now, to Sourcewell's evaluators: we don't share jurisdiction data with third parties, we blur faces and license plates by default, every detection goes through human review before any action is taken, data is encrypted throughout its entire journey,our computation and storage stay within the United States, and an independent SOC 2 audit checks our security and data handling every year. That bar was right for San Francisco and the GovAI Coalition, and it's right here too.
